# Best AI SDR tools for startups (2026): 7 options compared on approval, ownership and contract

Best AI SDR tools for startups, compared on approval before send, own-account sending, contract length, price transparency and data portability.

## The situation

You are a founder or the first sales hire at a startup. You did the math on an SDR hire and started looking at AI SDR tools instead. Then you hit the problem: half of them will not tell you the price, several want a year up front, and a few have press you need to read before you sign.

This is my list of the best AI SDR tools for startups. Disclosure first: I run PumpGTM, which is on the list. Every competitor fact below is from their own pages or public reviews, and I say where they beat us.

## What to check before you pick one

Human approval before send. An AI SDR that sends 9,000 messages without you reading one is a liability. You want a gate: a score threshold, a per-message approval mode, or a draft that waits for you. The full argument is in the [closed-loop GTM engine post](/blog/ai-gtm-engine-closed-loop-system).

Own account versus rented domains. From your own LinkedIn and Gmail, every reply builds your relationship. From a farm of rented domains, the threads belong to the vendor when you leave.

Contract length. For a startup that might change ICP in six weeks, this is the biggest number on the page.

Price transparency. If the price is "talk to sales," budget for the number being higher than you hoped.

Data portability. Can you get a CSV of leads and conversations out without asking support?

## The 7 options

Prices are as of September 2026, billed monthly unless stated.

PumpGTM $75 a month (list $99) Score gate, under 60 gets no message Your LinkedIn, your Gmail or Microsoft 365 Month to month Replies handed to you

### PumpGTM

Price: $75 a month (list $99), up to 3,000 leads a month, extra users $25 each, 7 day trial with a card required when the live trial starts, month to month.

How it works: it finds buyers showing intent right now (hiring on Greenhouse, Lever or LinkedIn Jobs, funding, tooling changes, LinkedIn post engagement), scores every lead and messages nobody under 60 of 100, then runs a paced sequence from your own LinkedIn account (day 0 profile view, day 1 like a post, day 2 personalized connection request, contextual follow-up), with optional email from your own Gmail, Microsoft 365 or IMAP mailbox. Replies are sorted and qualified buyers are handed to you. From Claude, Cursor or Codex, the MCP server at mcp.gigacatalyst.com finds buyers, drafts and sends, and reads replies, with you in the chat deciding when a draft goes.

Proof: last 7 days, one San Francisco team, 546 invites sent, 356 accepted (68%, against roughly 20% industry standard), 98 qualified replies, 38 enterprise demo meetings booked.

Where it loses: no phone, no email warm-up farm, no 200M contact database, launched September 2026. If you want an agent that books meetings without you ever reading a thread, this is not that by design.

### Gojiberry

Price: $99 a month for Pro, 2 AI agents (LinkedIn senders), up to 1,800 prospects contacted a month, monthly, cancel anytime, from [https://gojiberry.ai/](https://gojiberry.ai/).

The closest thing to PumpGTM here. YC Spring 2026, watches post engagers, competitor followers, job changes, hiring and funding, scores against your ICP, and offers "full auto or approve before it sends." HubSpot and Pipedrive native, MCP connector in the account.

Where it loses: the two-sender cap is "the most repeated complaint" (heyreach.io), scoring is "a black box you can't tune" (salesrobot.co), and no Salesforce. Trustpilot (4.4 from 67) has recent complaints about unpaid affiliate payouts. Lead CSV export is described by a partner (SmartReach), not Gojiberry's own docs. The [three-way with Okara](/blog/gojiberry-vs-pumpgtm-vs-okara-ai-outreach-tools) goes deeper.

### 11x

Price: the marketing site shows no prices and /pricing returns a 404. The help center at [https://docs.11x.ai/help-center/overview/11x-pricing-overview](https://docs.11x.ai/help-center/overview/11x-pricing-overview) publishes a floor: Alice (outbound) from $3,750 a month billed annually, with a minimum of 2,000 new prospects a month. Contracts are annual by default with 2 to 3 year options on Pro and Enterprise.

What you get: email, consented calling, LinkedIn, SMS and WhatsApp in one sequence, a 400M+ contact database, Smart Replies that sort replies into four buckets with auto-respond, skip or escalate per bucket, approval workflows with sign-off tracking, and Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and Zoho sync.

As reported: TechCrunch reported in March 2025 that 11x used ZoomInfo and Airtable logos without consent after short trials (ZoomInfo: "we are not a customer") and that former employees cited 70 to 80% customer loss while 11x claimed 79% retention. CEO Hasan Sukkar stepped down on May 5, 2025 and CTO Prabhav Jain became CEO. A Trustpilot two-star reviewer spent $9,000, sent 9,000 messages and got "zero meeting requests." No MCP, and no CSV export documented; the way out is CRM write-back.

The annual floor and prospect minimum make it a mid-market tool.

### Artisan

Price: not published. The pricing page at [https://www.artisan.co/pricing](https://www.artisan.co/pricing) lists Team (about 2,500 leads contacted a month), Scale (about 6,000) and Enterprise, each "Talk to sales." Third parties report tiers from $280 a month self-serve to $2,000 to $5,000+ a month enterprise. Contract length is not published; third parties report annual lock-in on enterprise.

Ava, its AI BDR, sends email from your own domains, plus a human-operated dialer add-on. LinkedIn is not documented in the help center, and a December 2025 LinkedIn ban over trademark use and third-party scraped data is reported (via 11x.ai's guide). Approval mode: "Approve before sending, lock tone and CTAs, set banned phrases." MCP at api-dashboard.artisan.co/mcp with 30 tools, though it cannot launch campaigns.

Where it loses: Trustpilot complaints include "just a email automation tool wrapped around LLMs. They can't do Linkedin Outreach, Phone calls" and "only about a 0.07% positive response rate." The CEO admitted "relatively high churn" to TechCrunch in April 2025. No export is documented; the way out is CRM sync.

### SalesRobot

Price from [https://www.salesrobot.co/pricing](https://www.salesrobot.co/pricing): Basic $59 a month ($39 annual), Advanced $79 ($59), Professional $99 ($79), per LinkedIn account.

Cloud LinkedIn plus email from your own Gmail, Outlook or SMTP, with an "AI appointment setter" that continues conversations and books meetings. Approving AI replies before they go: not published. MCP is claimed on the homepage but absent from the API docs, so treat it as unverified.

Where it loses: Trustpilot is 2.4 from 11 reviews with 82% one star, and AppSumo 2.9 from 47, mostly from lifetime-deal buyers who were later charged $15 per LinkedIn account a month after V2. Reviewers cite campaigns "stuck at 16%" and frequent disconnects. Leads export to CSV by email; conversation export is not documented.

### La Growth Machine

Price from [https://lagrowthmachine.com/pricing/](https://lagrowthmachine.com/pricing/), in EUR per identity (one LinkedIn account plus its inboxes): Basic EUR 60 a month (max 3 identities, 250 enriched leads), Pro EUR 120 (unlimited identities, API, multichannel inbox). Monthly, or annual with 2 months free.

LinkedIn, email, X and calls from your own accounts, a dedicated 5G mobile proxy per identity, published caps with auto-pause. A reviewer (via salesforge.ai): "all the other tools just get me banned." Hosted MCP at mcp.lagrowthmachine.com where write actions "require explicit confirmation."

Where it loses: message approval queues are not published. Trustpilot 4.3 from 28 includes "Expensive. Poor support. A lot of bugs" and a one-star from someone who "spent $10,000 on the worst experience ever." Leads export to CSV, but campaign activity is "visible but not exportable" per an open feature request. Salesforce only via Zapier.

### Clay plus a sender (the DIY stack)

Price from [https://www.clay.com/pricing](https://www.clay.com/pricing): Free (500 actions), Launch $185 a month ($167 annual) with 15,000 actions, 2,500 data credits and the email-only Sequencer, Growth $495 ($446 annual) with CRM auto-sync and HTTP API. Month to month or annual; Enterprise is annual only. Add HeyReach ($79 per sender) for LinkedIn or Instantly (from $47) for email.

The technical founder's build: waterfall enrichment across 150 to 200+ providers, Claygent research and scoring, then push to a sequencer. The Sequencer posts reply drafts to Slack for approval. CSV export from any table.

Where it loses: Clay does not send on LinkedIn, so you are on two or three bills and you are the integration. Credit burn is the top complaint; one user spent $800 in a week while learning (via reachstream.com). If you are choosing a data layer, the [Apollo alternatives](/alternatives/apollo) page covers the cheaper options.

## Who should pick what

Founder, one LinkedIn account, no SDR, under $100: PumpGTM or Gojiberry. The difference is scoring you can see versus a black box, and email from your own mailbox versus email as follow-up. Mid-market team on Salesforce with ops staff and a $45K annual budget: 11x, eyes open. High-volume cold email with a CSM and no LinkedIn: Artisan, once you get a price. Technical founder who wants to own the pipeline: Clay plus a sender. EU team wanting LinkedIn, email and X from one identity: La Growth Machine.

If LinkedIn is your channel, the [LinkedIn automation tools for founders](/best/linkedin-automation-tools-for-founders) list ranks the sequencers, and the [tools with an MCP server](/best/linkedin-outreach-tools-with-mcp-server) page covers which of these your AI can drive. ## Questions people ask

What does an AI SDR tool cost for a startup? As of September 2026, founder-priced options run $75 to $99 a month (PumpGTM, Gojiberry) or $59 to $120 per LinkedIn account (SalesRobot, La Growth Machine). 11x starts at $3,750 a month billed annually, and Artisan does not publish prices.

Which AI SDR tools let me approve messages before they send? Gojiberry, Artisan, Clay's Sequencer (reply drafts to Slack), and 11x (escalate per reply category). PumpGTM uses a score gate so anyone under 60 of 100 gets no message, and from an MCP client you decide when a draft goes.

Should an AI SDR send from my own account or rented domains? For a startup, your own LinkedIn and your own mailbox. Every reply builds your relationship and stays with you if you switch tools. Rented domain farms suit high-volume email teams, not founders.

Is 11x a good fit for a startup? Its published floor is $3,750 a month billed annually with a 2,000 prospect a month minimum, and contracts default to a year. That is mid-market pricing.

PumpGTM finds the buyers showing intent this week and runs the outreach from your own LinkedIn account. 7 day trial, $75 a month after.
