# How to send cakes to prospects automatically (a physical GTM walkthrough)

Physical GTM means sending a real gift, like a cake, as one step of your outbound. Here's the full flow in PumpGTM: upload a photo, preview it on a 3D cake, edit it with AI, and order delivery to your prospect's office.

Physical GTM means sending something real, like a cake, as one step of your outbound sequence. To send a cake to a prospect automatically, you design the cake once, add a "Send a cake" step to your sequence, and let the follow-up message go out once the order is confirmed. This post walks through exactly that, using two real cakes for founders I like.

In [part 1](/blog/sending-cakes-to-dev-tool-companies) I picked the dev tool companies I most want as customers. This time I'm sending cakes to two founder teams I like a lot: Solo Founders and TriFetch.

## Step 1: upload a photo that means something to them

The cake studio takes any image. For the Solo Founders team I used a photo from a birthday lunch with Dhravya, Julian and the whole team. For TriFetch I used the cover of Forbes they were just on.

A photo they recognize beats any message you could print. It shows you know who they are, not just that they're on a list.

## Step 2: preview it on a 3D cake and edit it with AI

After the upload you see the cake in 3D, so you know how the print will actually look on top. You can also edit the image with AI: I gave both photos a little "pump" for PumpGTM. Then you hit Save and order .

## Step 3: add the address and order

Fill in the delivery address and you see the exact cost and the delivery estimate before you order. A 6-inch cake with delivery came to $203.

You pay with Energy, the same balance that runs every other outbound action in PumpGTM, so physical gifting doesn't need a separate tool or a separate card. The cakes themselves are made and delivered by our partner Daymaker.

## Step 4: make it a step in your sequence

Ordering one cake by hand is a nice gesture. Putting it inside a sequence is what makes it a GTM motion: the cake step only runs for people who haven't replied, and your LinkedIn or X follow-up goes out once the order is confirmed. That's the part [the cakes play](/plays/cakes) automates.

It works best next to your other channels, not instead of them. If you haven't set up [multi-channel outbound](/blog/multi-channel-outbound-next-10-customers) yet, start with the [LinkedIn and email play](/plays/linkedin-email) and add the cake for the accounts you most want.

## What happens next

Once the cakes arrive, I'll share how both teams reacted.

## Transcript

Physical gifting is a powerful technique for GTM which gets 30% reply rate. This means it can massively improve the performance of your campaigns. We've just added the ability to design and send custom cakes to your prospects inside PumpGTM, and that's what I'm going to show you in the next 60 seconds. Here's what the cake studio looks like. You can upload any image that you want. I'm going to send the Solo Founders team a cake, and this is a photo from a birthday lunch. Up top it has Dhravya, Julian, all of the team. After uploading the image you get a cool 3D cake to actually visualize it on, and you can make custom edits with AI. So I just gave them a little pump for PumpGTM. This is what it looks like. Now I can just hit save and order. The backend provider for all these cakes is our partner Daymaker. Go check out William's profile, he's awesome. I'm also going to send my friends from TriFetch a cake. They are the greatest founders, they are on the cover of Forbes. I'm going to use this exact image for their cake, and of course I'm gonna pump them. Awesome, here's how that looks. Nice. And once you fill out the address, you can see the exact cost and the delivery estimate. So you just load up Energy on PumpGTM and you can use it for all of your GTM outbound actions, including physical gifting. I've just placed the order, so we're gonna find out in a few days how they feel when they receive the order. But stay tuned, and if you want to really scale and automate your GTM, go check out PumpGTM. There's a seven-day free trial. Go get the pump.

## Questions founders ask

How do I send a cake to a prospect automatically? In PumpGTM, design a cake in the cake studio, add a "Send a cake" step to your outbound sequence and confirm the delivery address. The cake goes to people who haven't replied, and your follow-up message is sent once the order is confirmed.

Can I put a photo on the cake? Yes. Upload any image, preview it on a 3D cake, adjust it, and optionally edit it with AI before ordering. You can also print text or the recipient's first name.

How much does sending a cake cost? You see the exact cost and delivery estimate before ordering; a 6-inch cake with delivery came to $203 in this demo. It's paid from your PumpGTM Energy balance.

Who makes and delivers the cakes? Our partner Daymaker handles baking and delivery.

Should every prospect get a cake? No. A cake costs more than an email, so keep it for the accounts you most want, inside a sequence that also uses email, LinkedIn and X.
